It’s almost as if these twits can’t get their story straight. First they offered up this nonsense last week:
Obama administration officials told a gathering of all 100 U.S. Senators on Wednesday that they were kept in the dark about Saturday’s prisoner swap because the Taliban warned that they would kill Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl if any information about the plan leaked to the public.
But Georgia Sen. Saxby Chambliss, the senior Republican member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, says he and California Sen. Dianne Feinstein, his Democratic counterpart on the committee, were told ‘months and months’ in advance when the Obama administration was planning to kill Osama bin Laden.
‘It was like they didn’t trust Dianne and me,’ Chambliss said during an interview on the Fox News Channel, describing his frustration with being kept out of the loop on the Bergdahl hostage swap.
‘And yet the two of us knew about the bin Laden event leading up to the takedown of bin Laden for months and months and months,’ he said.
But the Bergdahl deal had the fierce moral urgency of now(!), as in now we have to get Obama’s VA scandal off the news. So as it turns out they really didn’t keep this a secret, except from the people they’re required to tell. And in an added wrinkle, they now claim it was Chuck Hagel, not the idiot Obama, who signed off on the deal. Right.
Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel – not President Obama – executed the administration’s final call to proceed with the prisoner exchange of five ranking Taliban detainees for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, administration officials told Congress today in a classified briefing today.
“They indicated [it was] Secretary Hagel [who made the final call],” House Armed Services Chairman Buck McKeon, R-California, told reporters following the briefing Monday evening. “It was the president of the United States that came out [in the Rose Garden] with the Bergdahls and took all the credit and now that there’s been a little pushback he’s moving away from it and it’s Secretary Hagel?”
Officials also told Congress that 80 to 90 people within the administration knew of its plans to go forward with the controversial swap, exacerbating tensions between the White House and members of Congress.
“They made it clear that there were 80 to 90 people who knew ahead of time about the Bergdahl release,” Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minnesota, a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, told reporters. “There was a sense of anger that members of Congress didn’t know about this. Obviously, if there is secure information — members of Congress knew about the capture of Osama bin Laden — and yet 80 to 90 staff in the White House knew about this.”
Congress can’t be trusted, but up to 90 Obama zombies are OK to know about important national security matters. At this point, what difference does it make?
