A Democratic Super PAC is attacking a Republican Senate candidate for his supposed ties to libertarian philanthropists Charles and David Koch even though their company’s political arm has donated tens of thousands to the Democrat in the race.
Senate Majority PAC has strong ties to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.), who has frequently attacked the Kochs, going so far as to label them “un-American” on the floor of the Senate.
The group is now attacking Sen. Mary Landrieu’s (D., La.) opponent, Rep. Bill Cassidy (R., La.), for his supposed ties to the Koch Industries owners.
“Out of state billionaires spending millions to rig the system and elect Bill Cassidy,” the ad says, showing pictures of the Kochs and a stat on ad spending in the race by Americans for Prosperity, to which the Koch brothers have donated.
“Their goal: Another politician bought and paid for,” the ad says ominously. “Their agenda: Protect tax cuts for companies that ship our jobs overseas.”
However, Sen. Landrieu has received $27,000 in campaign contributions since 2000 from Koch Industries and its subsidiaries and employees, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
Oh, but it gets even better. Look at what Democrat got $5,00 from Koch Industries just this election cycle.

And it’s not the first time:
In fact, one would be hard-pressed to find a Democrat nationwide who receives more support from Koch Industries than the $35,000 that employees of the firm and its political action committee, Koch PAC, have given to Pryor since 2007.
Not only that, the Democrat Senatorial Campaign Committee itself took $30,000 from the Kochs in 2010, the same year Landriew received this generous donation:

Hmm. Meanwhile, Dingy Harry amped up his absurd Koch attacks today.
“When Republican senators rush to defend the Koch brothers, they are also defending the Koch brothers’ radical philosophy. And it’s radical. How do we know it’s radical? They said so. I’m not making those words up,” Reid said. “Is even one of you [Republicans] willing to stand up and disavow the Koch brothers’ radical agenda? It’s radical. It’s radical because they say it’s radical. And it is radical.”
“Obviously, they must agree with the Koch brothers’ radical philosophy. Republicans are willing to defend the Koch brothers on the floor of this Senate, but are they willing to defend the Koch brothers’ radical agenda as well?” added the Nevada Democrat.
Reid’s mention of the French debacle on the Senate floor prompted some journalists to dig into the Senate Majority Leader’s contribution records with the Center for Responsive Politics.
The CRP records reveal that Reid has accepted campaign money from individuals and political action committees associated with 10 companies linked to FCPA investigations.
The contributions total $515,100 between 2009 and 2013.
Seems terribly un-American to us. Now if you think Reid hasn’t completely lost it, well, the day is still young.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Thursday accused Republicans of holding up crucial assistance to Ukraine in order to protect the Koch brothers.
Reid tied the billionaires David and Charles Koch, who have bankrolled conservative causes, to GOP demands that language delaying the Internal Revenue Service’s regulation of nonprofit political advocacy groups be added to the Ukraine package.
Some conservative Republicans want the IRS language added if the bill is also to include reforms to the International Monetary Fund backed by the White House.
Reid has been on the warpath against the Koch brothers, with barely a day passing that doesn’t include an attack on them.
“It’s hard for me to comprehend how with a clear conscience they could say, ‘Ukrainians, we probably can’t help you because we’re trying to protect the Koch brothers,’” he said on Thursday. “And not only that, they’re saying to the American people that protecting the Koch brothers is more important than helping our country.”
