In an incident that happened in April of 2016, UC Berkeley student and Iraqi Muslim migrant, Khairuldeen Makhzoomi, was removed from Southwest Airlines, detained by security officers, questioned by the FBI and refused service from Southwest after making passengers nervous by loudly speaking Arabic before his flight took off. Now, designated terrorist group CAIR and the law firm of Walkup, Melodia, Kelly & Schoenberger today filed a federal lawsuit.
According to CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations), as Makhzoomi boarded the flight, he excitedly called his uncle to tell him about an event. Another passenger, overhearing him speaking in Arabic, reported him to Southwest Airlines staff. Makhzoomi was promptly removed from the aircraft, questioned by law enforcement and barred from returning to the flight.
“Southwest Airlines removed Mr. Makhzoomi from a flight and turned him in to local and federal law enforcement for no reason other than his spoken language,” said Zahra Billoo, CAIR-SFBA executive director. “What Mr. Makhzoomi experienced is the essence of religious profiling, and every Muslim airline passenger’s worst nightmare.”
What the media DIDN’T want to tell you about the Arabic-speaking Muslim who got kicked off Southwest.
LawNewz The mainstream media went ballistic after learning that an Iraqi student was removed from a flight after an alleged ‘Islamophobic’ woman reported him after overhearing him speaking Arabic. What the media conveniently left out is that the “see something say something” woman is a native Arabic speaker herself and reportedly said that she overheard Makhzoomi mention ISIS and possibly another terror group during his phone conversation and that is why she alerted the airline crew. Not surprisingly, this important detail about the story somehow did not make it into the Washington Post profile.
Makhzoomi at first demanded an apology which rightfully, he did not get. So now he has filed a lawsuit agianst the airline…which he will surely lose.
