Designated terrorist group CAIR tried desperately to bring legal action against Jan Morgan, even getting former Attorney General Eric Holder and the Justice Department involved, but failed. Morgan’s “Gun Cave Shooting Range” is still Muslim-free and more popular than ever thanks to all the free publicity and media coverage courtesy of CAIR.
Hot Springs Republican Jan Morgan will announce today that she’s forming a committee to explore the possibility of running for governor next year, a spokesman for her said Monday.
Bearing Arms Morgan, 54, owns the Gun Cave shooting range in Hot Springs. In 2014, she drew national media attention by declaring her gun range a “Muslim Free Zone,” saying that she was concerned about the safety of other customers if Muslims patronized her business.
“Since I have no way of discerning which muslims will or will not kill in the name of their religion and the commands in their koran…I choose to err on the side of caution for the safety of my patrons.”
The Gun Cave Indoor Shooting Range in Hot Springs, Arkansas, has declared itself a “Muslim free zone” due to concerns over domestic Islamic terrorism. The ban was announced by range owner Jan Morgan in an article posted to her web site where she cites ten points justifying her position.
Among the points cited are prior attacks in the United States that the federal government refuses to classify as terrorism, including the Fort Hood attack, the Boston Marathon bombing, and the last week’s Oklahoma City beheading. Morgan has also received death threats in the past for her writing about Islam.
She brings up a very valid point that gun stores and ranges have both a legal and moral obligation to ensure the safety of their patrons. Because of this, they may refuse service to anyone they deem to be under the influence, mentally unstable, or otherwise a potential threat to themselves, or others. FFLs are afforded a great deal of latitude in this regard, as the federal government would rather err on the side of caution.
Arkansas Online Ralph Wunder of Washington, D.C., a senior political adviser to Morgan, said Morgan plans to go on a listening tour of Arkansas and determine the level of campaign funding that would be available before deciding whether to challenge Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Wunder said Morgan believes “the governor talks like a conservative and governs like a liberal.”
Hutchinson’s chief political strategist, Jon Gilmore, said Monday, “We recognize that with 2018 being an election year there might be opposition and folks will consider and explore a run for political office. Explorations will happen. It is a normal part of the political process.”
